The purpose of the Ziph Automatic Battery Condenser Controller is to help
the bale press make uniform bales when one or more gin
stands are "out".
The bat on the condenser drum will produce more uniform "folds" when it remains the same thickness. The drum has to run close to maximum speed when the gin is producing maximum bales.
The problem arises when two or more gin stands are "pulled out". This decreases the volume of cotton going on the condenser drum, causing the "bat" to become thin.
The lint bat coming down the lint slide does not fold correctly at the bottom, and the press box fills unevenly. Then the tramper and press get side loaded and produce "lop-sided" bales. This is extremely hard on the equipment.
The Ziph Battery Condenser Controller has one mission: To keep the lint bat the same thickness when the cotton volume decreases by slowing down the battery condenser drum when two or more gin stands come "out".
Although this controller does not actually increase the volume of the battery condenser, it's main purpose is to help the press with the task of making good bales easier.
